From Apple Watches to Fitbits, consumers now have hundreds of smart watches to choose from.
But Sony’s latest offerings, called Wena Active and Wena Pro, differ from anything we’ve seen before.
Unlike other smart watches, the technology lies in the strap, leaving you free to swap your favourite watch faces in and essentially make any watch ‘smart.’
The watch straps have several handy features, including contactless payments.
Using NFC technology, the watch straps can be used to make payments with a tap of the wrist – which could be handy for people who hate carrying bags and wallets with them.
Users can also sync their smartphones up with their watch strap, so they can see notifications with a glance of the wrist.
Notifications, including calls and texts, can be customised with different coloured LED lights.
For example, you could choose to customise your strap so that a blue flash and single vibration indicates a text.
The strap is available in two styles – the metal Pro option, or silicon Active version.
Despite the fact that the straps come without a face, they have fairly hefty price tags. The Active option will set you back £349, while the Pro version is priced at £399.
You can also choose from a range of accompanying faces, which range from £100 to £400, should you not have a traditional watch face to swap in.
